It is amazing that I start to write about DATE 05 trip after 15 month passed. Thanks to the creation System Design Frontier Blog, now I could write down any topics I wanna dress anytime anywhere in anyway, whether I am at the office, or on the road. Before that, it was impossible for me to speak up since the Guest Editorial (now called Kluwer Academic Publisher Editorial) pipeline was almost always full. We also call it the power of ubiquitous publicity, without the Internet, it is hard to imagine that that one night I update my blog based on my exhibition experience during the day at a trade show
Anyway we arrived at Munich two days before the opening of DATE 05 since it was our first time traveling to Germany. Once we get to the Best Western hotel located just a few blocks away from Munich’s Central Station, we found we made a mistake - we should use Munich’s advanced subway/light-rail system instead of renting a car, which is both expensive and difficult to drive. One who has not been to downtown Munich cannot understand how small the roads are in downtown Munich, and how long those street names in German are. Fortunately, the highway system in Germany is not that bad, and as the only country in the world, there is not speed limit driving in German highways. However, I did not understand the big signs with Ausgang in German stands for, I suddenly realized it is Exit in English, looks like English is still not ubiquitous, at least in Germany. BTW I met with Kevin, VP of Denali Softare, right on one of the breakfast tables at downtown Best Western Munich
We spent one week in Germany, it was a great experience both business-wise and personally, except I was stopped by a policeman in green uniform driving a green police car at downtown Munich, fortunately he did not write me a ticket after I showed him my CA driver license. That trip led us to exhibit at CeBIT 06 one year later, and I gonna describe our Hannover experience in just a few days, so stay turned Frontier Blog - http://www.hwswworld.com/wp
